Location History is a Google Account–level setting that saves where you go with every mobile device.

From your web browser you can opt into Location History collection from your Google account at: https://myaccount.google.com/activitycontrols/location . On Apple devices you can manage you location history in your Google Account’s Activity controls. On Android devices you can check your Activity controls under settings.

You must have Location History collected (previously turned on) in order to export your history.

Exporting Location History

If you are collecting your Location data through Google Maps’ Location History data and your phone, you can export all of this data via Google Takeout.

You begin by going to the Download your data page. Additional instructions from Google are available.

If you have selected to export a Zip file, your data will come as a compressed Zip file. In order to upload your location history into ExposureTrack – you need to uncompress your Zip file to reveal the “.json” files in sub folders.

You need to have .json files from your takeout to upload them into Exposuretrack.

Your zip file from Google should be organized by year and month.
